Is childcare available?
Yes! We have Kids’ Club for our children ages 4 – 11 years old that is held during the 11:00 am worship service in the Rosa Parks Room behind the Sanctuary. If you are able, please bring your child to the class before service begins, so they can meet the other kids and the teachers. We always have two teachers with the children at all times who have passed background checks and are trained in the curriculum.
For our younger children, they are definitely welcome at all of our services. If you would like to bring them some books or toys to play with during service, please do! We have a crying/changing room located off of the lobby, if you would like, at any time, to just relax with your child outside of the sanctuary.
Are there accommodations for those with Mobility challenges?
Yes! There is a lift to access the sanctuary, located on the west side of the building, just inside the gates to the courtyard. It can accommodate wheelchairs, and those with walkers or other mobility enhancing devices. Wheelchair seating is just inside the west door of the sanctuary. Please see an usher if you have questions. Seating is also available for those who have physical challenges just inside the west door of the sanctuary.
To access the downstairs fellowship hall, and the main as well as second floors, there is an elevator just to the left inside the Rodney Dr. entrance to the church.
Are there accommodations for those with Auditory challenges?
Yes! There is ASL translation at the 11 AM service, and special services, such as Christmas and Easter. The translator is also visible on our broadcast.
What type of people worship at Founders MCC?
Our congregation can be described in one word: diverse. You will see all of God’s human creation here on Sunday morning – folks of all ages, genders, ethnicities, orientations, identities, and those of every relationship status.
What should I wear?
We have no formal dress code! You will see a bit of everything: people in their “Sunday best,” folks in “business casual” and those in jeans and t-shirts. You’ll even find during the warmer months people wearing shorts and flip-flops! It’s completely up to you to dress to your level of comfort. Most importantly, though, we look forward to seeing you, not what you’re wearing.
What are your services like?
The 9:00 AM Service is best described as liturgical, and it runs approximately an hour. We sing hymns (primarily from the New Century Hymnal) as well as contemporary Christian music. We have responsive readings, a sermon, and celebrate Communion weekly. At this service, the clergy wear simple vestments.
At the 11:00 AM Celebration Worship Service, we gather for about 90 minutes to praise, pray and experience a relevant message for our lives today. Most of the music is contemporary Christian and Gospel music. As with the 9 AM service, we celebrate Communion every week.
