Rev. Bam Noriega
Bam joined Founders MCC/ICM Fundadora in August 2024 as a seminary student clergy intern while completing their Master of Divinity degree at Moravian University School of Theology, graduating in May 2025. After serving as student clergy through December 2025, they stepped into the role of Assistant Pastor, continuing their commitment to pastoral care, justice work, and community outreach. Before coming to Los Angeles, Bam served as the Minister of Outreach and Social Justice at MCCLV in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where they helped shape ministries centered on inclusion, advocacy, and community presence.
Since arriving at Founders, Bam has become a key leader in the Church’s expanding “Church Outside the Walls” ministry. They have coordinated and led the Pride Ministry, helping Founders show up at Pride events across Southern California — from Huntington Park to Long Beach, West Hollywood, LA Pride, Trans Pride LA, Santa Monica Pride, and DTLA Proud. Under their leadership, Founders offered communion at Pride events for the first time, creating sacred moments in public spaces. One of the most meaningful experiences for them was offering communion to someone who shared that they had not taken it in years — a reminder of why this ministry matters.
Bam has helped organize volunteers for community events, justice actions, and public witness, ensuring Founders shows up with love, courage, and pastoral presence. They have represented the Church at marches and protests including No Kings, Hands Off Our Democracy, and the CLUE Vigil of the Disappeared at the Los Angeles Federal Building. They have supported AIDS Walk LA, Models of Pride, and other community efforts that center LGBTQ+ youth, justice, and visibility. They have also helped strengthen partnerships with CLUE (Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice) as the Church continues its work in immigrant justice and public witness.
They have coordinated Breaking Bread, the Church’s monthly fellowship gathering, and supported queer-owned spaces such as Precinct in DTLA. Bam also played a key role in the 2025 Visioning Day, helping the congregation imagine and articulate the future of Founders MCC/ICM Fundadora as a Church deeply committed to ministry beyond its walls.
In the community, Bam is known for their warm, grounded presence, their justice organizing, and their commitment to being Church, not just going to Church. People often come to them for advocacy support, pastoral outreach outside the walls, and accompaniment in moments that happen far from the sanctuary.
Bam’s ministry is shaped by a deep belief in radical inclusion, community care, and the transformative power of showing up.
Their family includes their wife Maria, their stepson Adrian, their stepdaughter Alexi, and their family dogs St. Peter and Maximus. They love baseball — especially the Dodgers — exploring new restaurants, and going to the movies. Their most memorable travels have taken them to Italy, particularly Rome and Assisi, places that continue to inspire their spiritual imagination.
Bam se unió a Founders MCC/ICM Fundadora en agosto de 2024 como estudiante de seminario y pasante de clero mientras completaba su Maestría en Divinidad en la Escuela de Teología de la Universidad Morava, de la cual se graduó en mayo de 2025. Desde su llegada a Founders, Bam se ha convertido en unx líder clave en la creciente iniciativa de la Iglesia “Iglesia Fuera de los Muros”. Ha coordinado y dirigido el Ministerio del Orgullo, ayudando a que Founders esté presente en eventos del Orgullo en todo el sur de California — desde Huntington Park hasta Long Beach, West Hollywood, LA Pride, Trans Pride LA, Santa Monica Pride y DTLA Proud. Bajo su liderazgo, Founders ofreció la comunión en eventos del Orgullo por primera vez, creando momentos sagrados en espacios públicos. Una de las experiencias más significativas para ellx fue ofrecer la comunión a una persona que compartió que no la había recibido en años — un recordatorio de por qué este ministerio es tan importante.
Bam ha ayudado a organizar voluntarixs para eventos comunitarios, acciones de justicia y testimonio público, asegurando que Founders se presente con amor, valentía y presencia pastoral. Ha representado a la Iglesia en marchas y protestas, incluyendo No Kings, Hands Off Our Democracy y la Vigilia de lxs Desaparecidxs de CLUE en el Edificio Federal de Los Ángeles. Muchas personas acuden a ellx en busca de apoyo en defensa, alcance pastoral fuera de los muros y acompañamiento en momentos que ocurren lejos del santuario.
El ministerio de Bam está moldeado por una profunda creencia en la inclusión radical, el cuidado comunitario y el poder transformador de hacerse presente.
Su familia incluye a su esposa María, su hijastro Adrian, su hijastra Alexi y sus perros St. Peter y Maximus. Le encanta el béisbol — especialmente los Dodgers — explorar nuevos restaurantes y asistir al cine.
